Dear Rosslyn BID Property Managers:

On behalf of the Rosslyn BID, I am writing to request your help to inform Rosslyn residents and workers about the upcoming Rosslyn Metro Station Access Improvement Project.

Improvements will include:
· Three new high-capacity elevators
· An emergency exit stairwell
· An additional entrance mezzanine and connecting passageway

The construction staging will begin the weekend of October 9th. Residents, commuters and tenants will notice the changes beginning the week of October 11. The biggest impact will be that North Moore St. will be one way ONLY going south. Construction is anticipated to continue through spring 2013.

Monday Properties will also begin construction of its 1812 N. Moore building, adjacent to the current Metro entrance. Construction of the 35-floor office tower is slated to continue through fall 2013. As those construction projects go forward, street and pedestrian traffic will be impacted.

The Arlington Department of Environmental Services (DES) has developed a brochure detailing changes that will affect your tenants and residents (see the attached PDF files). The Rosslyn BID is working with DES to help get the word out.

Starting tomorrow, our Rosslyn Ambassadors will deliver the County’s yellow flyers highlighting the project to the commercial buildings within the BID. Please distribute them to your tenants.

If you are a residential building you may share the attached PDF information with your residents.

We appreciate your help to share this flyer with your tenants so we can ensure all are informed about construction in Rosslyn that will affect everyone over the next few years. Please bear with us as we reinvent Rosslyn today – for tomorrow.

We will also provide updates on the Metro project at the upcoming Nov 10 Property Managers meeting. If you have any questions prior to then, please contact me at 703-522-6628 ext. 16 or at jhealy@rosslynva.org

Rosslyn Station Area
Construction Projects
Reinventing Rosslyn Today –
For Tomorrow
Construction begins in October on an additional entrance for
the Rosslyn Metro station to help increase access to the
station, as well as a private office development at 1812 N.
Moore St., immediately adjacent to the station. Additional
information on these two projects is detailed on the back.
How will this impact you?
• Access to the Metrorail system will be maintained
and the existing elevator will remain in service as will
the entrances on N. Moore Street and Fort Myer
Drive.
• Protected pathways will be provided for pedestrians
and bicyclists. Please use caution and follow only
designated pathways.
• Metrobus and ART bus stops on N. Moore Street will
be moved to different locations on N. Moore Street.
Bus patrons should plan for additional travel time
due to delays and detours.
• Annie’s Park will be closed.
• N. Moore Street will become a one-way street
heading south towards Wilson Blvd. and will be
limited to local transit and construction traffic.
Motorists are advised to use other routes.
• Taxi stands will be relocated to the south corner of
N. Moore St. next to Wilson Blvd. and on Wilson
Blvd. near Fort Myer Dr., in front of the Hyatt
Arlington.
• Passenger drop-off and pickup locations for the
Rosslyn Station will be located on the Fort Myer Dr.
side of the station entrance. Passenger loading or
unloading is prohibited on the N. Moore Street side
of the station, unless it is for accessibility purposes
next to the existing elevator.
Safety First
Arlington County is working hard to ensure the safety of all
motorists, pedestrians, bicyclists and work crews during this
period of construction. Please use caution in and around the
Rosslyn Metrorail station and follow any instructions
provided.
