The Arlington Connection announced today an NRCA win on Wilson School. Article: "Reversal of Fortune" http://www.arlingtonconnection.com/article.asp?paper=60&cat=104&article=92658 I think that a victory announcement is a bit premature; but it looks like the odds are now in favor of a good outcome. The Schoolboard is scheduled to vote, on 1/31, to direct the Superintendent to talk with the County about improving the Wilson School site -- with a first priority of saving the site for an Elementary School. This would be good. For some time most of the activists involved in the Save Wilson School effort have thought that saving the site for an elementary school pretty much covered our needs including: bringing back green space for kids to play and for all to enjoy, keeping the facility alive so that we can have a school when we need it, allowing arts and other community uses in the evening and Sundays, providing a home for the Mongolian School, etc. So... mark your calendar for the evening of 1/31. Come and tell the APS Board that you support their proposed long term plan to preserve, improve, and use the Wilson School for elementary education. | |||
