Please consider attending the County Board Hearing on Public Land For Public Good this Wednesday, December 17, to help defend Rosslyn Highlands Park from development. WHEN: December 17, 2014 at 6:30pm - 9:30pm WHERE: County Board Meeting Room, 2100 Clarendon Blvd, 3rd Floor WHY: Stand in solidarity with other Arlington communities to defend parks and open space in Rosslyn and Arlington. The Arlington Parks Coalition is a group of Arlingtonians that mobilized to preserve Arlington's parks and recreation centers for current and future generations. The Coalition has liaisons from several communities with threatened parks and open space, including TJ Park, Lubber Run, Jenny Dean Park, and our own Rosslyn Highlands Park. Members of the Arlington Parks Coalition will speak to the County Board in response to a presentation by the Long Range Planning Committee/Planning Commission regarding the county's “Public Land for Public Good” program that proposes using county-owned land, including parks and open space, for increased development of housing and schools. This is a tremendous opportunity for members of our community to stand in solidarity with other neighborhoods whose parks are threatened and voice our concerns about the preservation of parks and open space in Rosslyn. For more information, read the Arlington Parks Coalition Action Alert. For questions or if you would like to speak at the hearing, please contact me at Katherine.elmore@outlook.com. | ||
