Two up-coming events may be of interest to North Rosslyn members. First, the Arlington County Civic Federation will begin the county campaign season on Tuesday, Sept. 2, with a candidate debate from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Hazel Auditorium at Virginia Hospital Center, 1701 North George Mason Drive. The public is invited (and North Rosslyn is, of course, a member of the Civic Federation); free parking is available at the hospital. For information, see the Civic Federation's Web site at www.civfed.org. North Rosslyn is also looking into conducting a possible Candidate debate here in Rosslyn later in the campaign season. Second, the Arlington Committee of 100 will consider the proposal for Arlington County to fund a conference center at the group's next meeting, scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 10 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at Gerald Phelan Hall on the campus of Marymount University. Although the County Board now appears unlikely to site the potential center here in North Rosslyn, we remain particularly interested in this subject, since the North Rosslyn proposal has not been formally rejected. North Rosslyn had earlier recommended that the Civic Federation also focus on this issue for the up-coming year. For information, call (703) 921-1124 or see the Web site at www.arlingtoncommitteeof100.org. North Rosslyn members may be interested in both of these events. | ||
