The County has announced upcoming information sessions on environmental projects. Their announcement is posted below:

Arlington County's Department of Environmental Services (DES) is pleased to announce two upcoming information sessions regarding important environmental projects that the County is currently studying, the Solid Waste Management Plan and the Water/Sewer Rate Study. We request that you publish or distribute through your calendars, electronic lists, newsletters, or any other media you have available. An informational flyer is attached.

The first information session will be held Wednesday, November 5, 2003, at 7:30 pm in the Aurora Hills Library and Community Center located at 735 S. 18th Street. The second information session will be held Monday, November 10, 2003, at 7:30 pm in the auditorium of Central Library located at 1015 N. Quincy Street.

Arlington is currently revising its Solid Waste Management Plan, which establishes Arlington's strategies for solid waste management in the county for the next 20 years. The Plan will serves as a guide for the future growth of the county's solid waste management system. Arlington County is also conducting a Water/Sewer Rate Study, to provide a model for future rate structures for water and sewer charges. For more information, please visit our website at http://www.co.arlington.va.us/des/studies.htm.

Each session will consist of two segments, beginning with a 15-minute presentation on the Solid Waste Management Plan, followed by a 15-minute presentation on the Water/Sewer Rate Study. Once the presentations are completed, a question and answer session will follow. The presentations will be repeated starting at 8:30 pm, followed by Q and A. Participants will also be allowed to submit written comments on issues related to the various studies.

If you have any questions about these sessions, or need more information prior to distribution, please contact Chip Goyette at 703/228-6486, or by email at cgoyette@co.arlington.va.us.
