Homelessness is a vexing problem in our times; for we who live near the metropolitan center, it is an inescapable part of our daily experience. RAFOM (the civic association representing south Rosslyn and nearby areas) will host presentations by two local volunteer organizations that provide services to the homeless. NRCA members are welcome to attend. Here is the announcement from RAFOM. --------------- November 17 RAFOM Meeting on the Homeless in Arlington RAFOM will hold its next meeting -- and the last of 2011 -- on Thursday, November 17, at 7 PM. It will take place in The Belvedere Party Room, 1600 N. Oak Street. Our focus will be on the homeless in Arlington, with two extremely qualified speakers: Kathleen Sibert, Executive Director of A-SPAN, and Eileen Corbet, Senior Program Director of the Residential Program Center (RPC). As you may know, A-SPAN deals specifically with the homeless in Rosslyn, and the RPC is the homeless shelter and substance abuse center on Columbia Pike. This is a very relevant issue for our area, and I hope you will note November 17 on your calendar and join us that evening. Stan Karson | |||
