WETA is celebrating our 45th Anniversary with an Open House of our headquarters in Shirlington. We are inviting members of our surrounding community to join in the activities and thought that members of the North Rosslyn Civic Association might be interested in attending. It will be held Wednesday, October 11th. Below, you will find a comprehensive schedule with a description of the activities, including a session with the producers of Out and About with 90.9 FM. If you would like to attend, please email LCircle@weta.com or call (703)998-2691. 45th Anniversary "Open House" Wednesday, October 11, 2006 2:30 pm Arrival and Check-in 3:00 pm – 3:45 pm Guests welcomed by Sharon Percy Rockefeller, CEO and President Gwen Ifill, moderator and Managing Editor of Washington Week with Gwen Ifill and National Journal, and Senior Producer, Chris Guarino, talk about program preparation and anecdotes about this nearly 40 year old weekly program, the longest-running public affairs program on PBS. 3:50 pm – 4:30 pm Break-out Sessions Guests may choose one of the following sessions to attend: A. Deb Lamberton and Donna Limerick, producers of Out and About with 90.9FM, present a studio workshop and perspective on program management for this popular weekend cultural program. B. David Thompson, Project Director, and Karen Kenton, Project Executive, National Programming, will introduce Ken Burns's, The War, a 14 ½ hour documentary series about World War II. David and Karen will provide background on the new series scheduled to air on PBS in September 2007. A preview clip of The War will be shown. C. Jeffrey Bieber, Vice President, News & Public Affairs, will discuss the new collaborations and partnerships that are making possible, The Jewish Americans.
