This Tuesday, July 21, during a Recessed County Board Meeting, the Arlington County Board is expected to vote to adopt the Western Rosslyn Area Study (WRAPS) plan and finalize the WRAPS process. The future size and dimensions of Rosslyn Highlands Park will be determined in that vote. Many thanks to all the community who showed their support for preserving and enhancing Rosslyn Highlands Park. With your engagement, we pushed the WRAPS open space plan from a small private plaza surrounded by commercial development, to a larger green public park – albeit much smaller than the current Rosslyn Highlands Park. The Rally Around the Park event, countless letters, and your passionate public testimony helped to preserve as much as the park as possible and made it clear to the County Board that the decision-making process has been deeply flawed. If you wish to make final remarks to the County Board before their vote, we encourage you to do so. What: WRAPS adoption, Recessed County Board Meeting Time: Starting no earlier than 6:45 pm Where: Arlington County Board Room, 2100 Clarendon Blvd., Room 307 What’s next? Through the efforts of Friends of Rosslyn Highlands Park (FORHP), local civic associations, and the Parks and Recreation and Planning Commissions, we expect that the County Board will authorize a public spaces planning process for Rosslyn Highlands Park and the other public spaces located within the Western Rosslyn Area Planning Study. FORHP will continue to engage in this process from August until its conclusion in December 2015. We’ll need YOUR vision to make that effort a success. Stay tuned for how you can help!
