At the WMATA Town Hall meeting on Nov 29, 2006, one of the attendees mentioned a text messaging service that will let you know when the next metro train arrives at a particular station. So if you have a mobile phone with text messaging, you can send a simple text message to the traincheck address and within a few seconds get back the times the next trains are expected.
