Attention All ART Riders: Effective July 1st Due to cost increases since fiscal year 2010 to cover additional ART services, Arlington County staff has proposed that the ART base fares increase from $1.50 to $1.75. The ART discounted fare for seniors, middle and high school students, and people with disabilities would increase from $0.75 to $0.85. If approved, this will be the first time that ART has increased bus fares and the STAR Zone 1 fares since 2010.

A community meeting on this issue will be held at Central Library-1st floor on March 10th from 7-8:30pm

This proposed increase is expected to generate over $338,000 annually. This will be used to partially cover the cost of additional ART services. The County Board will hold a public hearing on this, and other proposals at 6pm on March 27th at 2100 Clarendon Blvd, 3rd floor.

You may also visit the County’s Website to obtain information on advanced sign up procedures to speak at the hearing. On-site registration will begin one hour prior to the start of the hearing. Persons needing interpretation or hearing impaired, should contact the County Board. Those needing translation services should contact the County Board 3 days before the meeting.
