The Rosslyn Business Improvement Corporation (RBIC) will hold its first annual meeting on Thursday, January 30th, at 8:00 a.m., at the Arlington Temple United Methodist Church,1835 North Nash Street. The RBIC is the non-profit organization of Rosslyn property owners which proposes to operate the recently-improved Rosslyn Business Improvement District (BID) under a yet-to-be-negotiated contract with the County. North Rosslyn has recently begun participating in the RBIC's steering committee meetings in order to advocate greater resident and civic association involvement in every phase of the BID's decision-making. The Agenda for the first annual meeting will include:
* Elect an interim presiding officer for RBIC
* Elect a secretary for the Annual Meeting
* Elect Property Owner and Tenant members to the Board of Directors
* Elect officers
* Consider adoption of By-laws
* Consider such other matters as may be raised by any members of the corporation or the community.
Only property members within the BID's taxing area -- which does not yet include any current residents -- are entitled to vote at the meeting. I expect, however, that residents will be able to express their views during the general session. The format of the session is still being worked out by the committee which deals with the RBIC's bylaws. Please feel free in the meantime to use this space to express views on the direction in which you would like to see the BID and the RBIC headed.
