Second District (Rosslyn area) Crime and Activity Bulletin - November 2008

The following is a list of criminal activity occurring in 2D North for November, 2008.

Property crimes are on the increase. We are aware of the trends and have taken steps to address the issues.

Please do not leave valuables in your vehicles. Call in suspicious persons / activity to the police.


BURGLARY, 11/04/08, 1300 block of N. Veitch Street. Between 8 am on November 1, and 8 pm on November 3, an unknown subject forcibly entered a several storage units and stole items. A suspect was named.

COUNTERFEIT REGISTRATION-ARREST, 11/07/08, 1800 block of Arlington Boulevard. On November 7 at 4:30 am, police stopped a car with counterfeit temporary tags. The suspect also had a counterfeit Maryland temporary registration. James T. Dixon, 36, of Bowie, MD, was charged with Possession of a Counterfeit Registration, Driving While Suspended with Notice, and Possession of Counterfeit Temp Tags. He is being held on a $4,000 bond.

LARCENY-ARREST, 11/07/08, 1400 block of N. Courthouse Road. On November 7, a woman was served with warrants for committing fraud against the Department of Human Services’ Housing program in Arlington. Denise E. Muse, 50, of Arlington, was charged with Felony Larceny by False Pretenses.

PEEPING TOM, 11/09/08, 1500 block of N. 12th Street. On November 9 at 3 am, an unknown subject was seen attempting to look through a woman’s window. When the suspect was confronted, he fled. The suspect is a white male.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 11/10/08, 1400 block of N. Adams Street. Between 5 pm on November 8, and 6:30 am on November 10, copper wiring was stolen from a construction site. There is no suspect description.

POSSESSION WITH INTENT TO DISTRIBUTE-ARREST, 11/11/08, 1000 block of Washington Boulevard. On November 11 at 5 pm, police pulled over a vehicle for being improperly registered. During the investigation officers found narcotics in the vehicle. Jose Arias, 28, of Hyattsville, MD, was charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana. He was held on a $3,500 bond.

ASSAULT AND BATTERY, 11/14/08, 1400 block of N. Wilson Boulevard. On November 14 at 9 am, a female driver stopped her vehicle to allow pedestrians to cross the street. An unknown male in the crosswalk vandalized her car. When she exited the vehicle to confront him, he assaulted her. The suspect is an African American male in his 40’s with black hair. He was last seen wearing grey pants and a black button down shirt.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 11/16/08, 1400 block of N. Lee Highway. At 12:30 am on November 16, an unknown suspect stole a leaf blower from a storage room at a hotel. The suspect was a tall African American male, last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants.

ATTEMPTED ROBBERY, 11/19/08, 2100 block of Clarendon Boulevard. On November 19 at 9:30 am, a woman was on an escalator when an unknown male attempted to steal her purse. They struggled and he pushed her to the ground. The suspect fled without the purse. He was last seen wearing a black hood or hat; he had on a large puffy black coat and black pants.

ATTEMPTED MALICIOUS WOUNDING-ARREST, 11/22/08, 1000 block of Arlington Boulevard. On November 22 at 2 am, a couple was in a vehicle when the male noticed his ex-girlfriend was following him. The ex-girlfriend attempted to hit the man’s vehicle from behind with her own vehicle. She then assaulted the man’s new girlfriend. Ingrid Brewton, 41, of Washington DC, was charged with Attempted Malicious Wounding. She is being held on a $10,000 bond.

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY, 11/23/08, 1800 block of N. Quinn Street. Between 7 pm on November 21, and 3:30 pm on November 23, an unknown subject attempted to enter an apartment through a window. A witness saw a Hispanic male in the area of the damaged window. The suspect was last seen wearing a dark blue hooded sweatshirt.

BURGLARY, 11/25/08, 2000 block of N. Adams Street. On November 25 at 10 am, a man awoke to noise in his apartment. He found an unknown male exiting through a window in his living room. The suspect had already removed various electronic items. The suspect was an African American male in his 20’s, 5’9” and 150 lbs. He was last seen wearing a black jacket and a red cap with a blue design on it.

POSSESSION OF A STOLEN CREDIT CARD- ARREST, 11/26/08, 3100 block of Clarendon Boulevard. On November 26 at 5 pm, police responded to a restaurant for a man who was unable to pay his bill. When the subject could not pay he was taken into custody. Police found stolen credit cards when he was searched at the time of arrest. Mohamed Kane, 35, of Falls Church, was charged with Defrauding an Innkeeper and Possession of Stolen Credit Card. He was held on $7,500 bond.

BURGLARY, 11/26/08, 1400 block of N. Adams Street. Between 3 pm on November 25, and 7:30 am on November 26, an unknown suspect entered a construction site and stole copper wiring. There is no suspect description.

MISSILE INTO AN OCCUPIED VEHICLE, 11/28/08, 1700 block of N. Lynn Street. On November 28 at 3:30 pm, an unknown suspect threw a rock into a rear windshield of a vehicle while it was stopped at a traffic light. The rock was large but no one in the car was injured. There is no suspect description.

ASSAULT ON POLICE- ARREST, 11/28/08, 3100 block of Lee Highway. On November 28 at 10:30 pm, a man was arrested for underage drinking. The suspect kicked officers when he was being booked. Ryan Morrison, 20, of Arlington, was charged with Assault on Police and Underage Possession of Alcohol. He was held on a $2,500 bond.



LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES), 11/10/08, Lyon Village neighborhood. On November 10, between 6 pm and 10 pm, six vehicles were broken into. A window was broken on each vehicle; various items were taken from three of the cars. There is no suspect description.



STOLEN VEHICLES, There were 2 vehicles reported stolen this month.
