Second District (Rosslyn area) Crime and Activity Bulletin - Jan and Feb 2010

The following is a list of criminal activity occurring in 2nd District North for January & February, 2010.

Listed below are some of the community issues that the 2nd District Policing Team worked on during January and February:

- Extra patrols in Lyon Village and Clarendon.

Please do not leave valuables in your vehicles. Call in suspicious persons / activity to the police.

ASSAULT ON POLICE-ARREST, 1400 block of N. Courthouse Road, On January 1 at 1:40 am, police were assisting a cab driver with a drunk passenger when the passenger assaulted an officer. Matthew Hodson, 22, of Arlington, was charged with Assault on Law Enforcement and Drunk in Public.

BURGLARY, 1700 block of N. Highland Street, On January 6 between 8 pm and 10 pm, an unknown subject broke into a residence and stole various items. There is no suspect description.

LATE ROBBERY, 1800 block of N. Moore Street, On January 21 at 5 am, a man was walking when two unknown men brandished a knife and stole his cell phone and wallet. The victim reported the incident a day later. The suspects were both white Hispanic males in their 20’s. One subject was wearing jean and a blue jacket and had short hair. The other suspect was wearing all black clothing and had long hair and a mustache.

BURGLARY, 2200 block of Clarendon Boulevard, On January 22 between 9 am and 5:30 pm, an unknown subject entered an apartment and stole various items. There are no known suspects.

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY, 3000 block of Wilson Boulevard, On January 24 at 10:20 pm, two groups of unknown subject fought in front of a restaurant. One subject was pushed into a glass window and broke it. All suspects fled before police arrived.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 1500 block of Wilson Boulevard, Between 6 pm on January 22, and 6 am on January 25, an unknown subject stole laptop computers from an office. There are no known suspects.

ROBBERY, 1400 block of N. Veitch Street, On February 10 at 8 pm, a woman was walking when an unknown man pushed her to the ground. The victim rolled away and left her jacket behind as she fled. The suspect was possibly intoxicated. He was a 30-year-old, 6’ tall African American male. The suspect was wearing all dark clothing.

MALICIOUS WOUNDING/DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY, 2900 block of Wilson Boulevard, On February 13 at 8:20 pm, a man in an unknown green costume slammed his body into the exterior of a plate glass window at a restaurant. The window shattered and a customer was cut by falling glass. The suspect fled the scene.

ASSAULT AND BATTERY-ARREST, 3100 block of Wilson Boulevard, On February 14 at 2 am, a man assaulted a cab driver and then punched a window of the cab. Police located the suspect and took him into custody. James Cillian, 26, of Reston, was charged with Assault and Battery, Destruction of Property and Drunk in Public. He was held on a $3,000 bond.

BURGLARY, 2200 block of Clarendon Boulevard, On February 20 between 10 am and 9 pm, an unknown person entered and apartment and stole various items. There are no known suspects.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 3300 block of N. Lee Highway, On February 20 between 1 am and 2 am, an unknown subject forced entry into a business and stole jewelry. There are no known suspects.

UNLAWFUL ENTRY, 1800 block of N. Quinn Street, On February 24 at 2 am, a woman walked into her apartment and an unknown man followed her inside. When she called out to her male roommate, the suspect fled the apartment. The suspect was an African American male with a light complexion, between 20 and 30 years old, 5’8” and heavyset.



LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES), 1000 block of N. Barton Street, Between 9:30 pm on January 12, and 8:30 am on January 13, an unknown subject broke into at least two cars in the same area and stole various items. There are no known suspects.

LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES), 1100 block of N. Kirkwood Street, On February 12 between 10 am and noon, an unknown subject broke into at least two vehicles and stole purses that were visible from the outside of the cars. There is no suspect description.


STOLEN VEHICLES, There were 5 vehicles reported stolen this month.
