Second District Monthly Crime Report (North) February 3, 2011 through March 2, 2011 Significant Incidents: ASSAULT AND BATTERY-ARREST 02/05/11, 3100 block of Wilson Boulevard. On February 5 at 12:45 am, an intoxicated woman assaulted several people inside a bar. Brittany Doyle, 22, of Stafford, was charged with Assault and Battery and Drunk in Public. She was held until sober. ASSAULT AND BATTERY 02/05/11, 2800 block of Wilson Boulevard. On February 4 at 11 pm, an unknown man knocked another man off a barstool. The suspect is described as a white male in his 30’s with short blond hair. ASSAULT AND BATTERY-ARREST 02/06/11, 3100 block of Wilson Boulevard. On February 6 at 1 am, a woman punched another female inside a bar. Mindy Carreon, 21, of Fairfax, was charged with Assault and Battery. ROBBERY 02/07/11, 2800 block of Clarendon Boulevard. On February 7 at 1 pm, an unknown man stole shirts from a clothing store. When a security guard attempted to stop him, the suspect got in a car and nearly struck the security guard while driving away. The suspect is described as an African American male in his early 30’s, 6’ and 185lbs. He was wearing a brown coat, jeans and glasses. LARCENY FROM AUTO 02/09/11, 2400 block of Wilson Boulevard. On February 9 between 5 pm and 9:30 pm, a suspect broke into at least three vehicles in the same parking lot. Various items were stolen from each. There are no known suspects. ROBBERY 02/09/11, 1200 block of N. Wayne Street. On February 9 at 3:20 pm, a woman was walking in a stairwell when an unknown man stole her purse from her hand. The suspect is described as an Asian male in his 20’s and 5’7”. He was wearing a yellow and red striped knit hat, and a black coat and black jeans. DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY-ARREST 02/12/11, 1700 block of N. Quinn Street. On February 12 at 4 am, an intoxicated man broke the front glass door of two apartment buildings. William Hoang, 33, of Falls Church, was charged with Destruction of Property and Drunk in Public. He was held on a $2,000 bond. ABDUCTION 02/14/11, 2000 block of N. 15th Street. On February 14 at 6:50 pm, a man was walking to his car when his ex-boyfriend approached him displaying a firearm. The suspect attempted to force the victim into a car, and the two struggled. The victim was able to recover the weapon and call police. The suspect fled. Warrants are pending. UNLAWFUL WOUNDING-ARREST 02/19/11, 3100 block of Clarendon Boulevard. On February 19 at 12:45 am, a man struck another man in the head with a drinking glass after a pushing match in a bar. The suspect was apprehended. Thomas Mullen, 38, of Springfield, was charged with Unlawful Wounding. He was held on a $10,000 bond. LARCENY FROM AUTO 02/19/11, 3200 block of Wilson Boulevard. On February 19 between 6 pm and 11:30 pm, a suspect broke into at least two vehicles in the same parking lot. Various items were stolen from each. There is no suspect description. ATTEMPT BURGLARY 02/22/11, 1900 block of N. Rhodes Street. On February 22 between 1 pm and 9:30 pm, an unknown subject attempted to enter an apartment. Entry was not gained and there is no suspect description. PEEPING TOM 02/24/11, 1500 block of N. Rhodes Street. On February 24 at 10:45 pm, an unknown man was seen looking into an apartment window. The suspect fled when a person inside the apartment screamed. The suspect was a man approximately 5’11” tall with a skinny build. He was wearing a hat. MALICIOUS WOUNDING 02/27/11, 3200 block of Washington Boulevard. On February 27 at midnight, two men argued. One struck the other in the face with a beer bottle. The suspect is described as a white male in his late 20’s, 5’8” with an average build. He was wearing an orange Syracuse University basketball jersey. RECKLESS HANDLING OF A FIREARM-ARREST 03/01/11, 1900 block of Ft. Myer Drive. On March 1 at 12:45 am, a man in a hotel though there was an intruder in his room and fired a round from a handgun. There was no intruder, and no hotel patrons were injured. Russell Wooten, 60, of Vienna, West Virginia, was charged with Reckless Handling of a Firearm. Stolen Vehicles: 2/24/11 -- 2006 Audi sedan, blue -- 1000 block of N. Daniel Street PUT THE BRAKES ON BIKE LARCENIES In 2010, 390 bikes using cables or chains as locks were stolen throughout Arlington County. To prevent your bike from being stolen: 1) USE A U-LOCK. Properly secured this offers the best protection against theft. Secure the frame of your bike to a solid object, preferably one weighing more than the bike. And if you have a releasable wheel, it too should be secured with the frame. 2) ALWAYS LOCK YOUR BIKE. No matter what its value. 3) REGISTER YOUR BIKE with the Police Department. Bike registration is easy and free and you can do it online at www.arlingtonva.us. Go to Online Services and click on Register your Bike. You must use the serial number engraved on your bicycle, not from a receipt. You will receive an ACPD decal in the mail within 7 days to place on your bicycle which, when visible, is a definite deterrent to theft. IF YOUR BIKE IS STOLEN: File a police report on line immediately. Go to www.arlingtonva.us/police and click on Report a Crime. Include brand, model, color and serial number. PLEASE REMEMBER -- AN ABANDONED BIKE MAY BE A STOLEN BIKE Abandoned Bikes: Call 703-228-4057. Report it immediately. Leave your phone number and a description and location of the bicycle.
