This spring the Second District Team will begin a pilot program of holding quarterly police/community meetings. The goal of this program is to enhance communication by relaying a variety of useful public safety topics, and allow our team to attend more neighborhood social events in order to meet and know our community members. We will continue to provide and discuss quarterly crime statistics. The first meeting is scheduled for Thursday, May 5, 2011, at 7:00pm in the Key Elementary School Cafeteria. The evening will begin with a 30 minute presentation on home/personal preparedness. Personnel from the Office of Emergency Management will provide information on: how to stay informed, creating a personal plan and how to get involved. In addition, Lt. Hurlock will discuss bicycle safety and security. Personnel will be on hand to register your bicycle with the Police Department. Once registered, each bicycle receives a sticker from ACPD to place on the frame. Pertinent information concerning the bicycle is maintained in our database to assist in the investigation should your bicycle be lost or stolen. Any bicycle with a 20 inch wheel, or larger, can be registered and it is FREE. Finally, we will conclude the evening with a review of the first quarter crime statistics and answer any questions. All members of the Second District Team will be at the meeting. We encourage you to attend and meet the members of your policing team. Hopefully it will be a nice evening, so consider riding your bicycle and having it registered. Hope to see you there! _____________________________ Captain Andy Penn Second District Commander Arlington County Police Department 1425 N.
