The following is a list of criminal activity occurring in 2D North for September, 2009. There were no larceny from auto or stolen auto cases reported in the North side of the District this month. Several crimes of a more serious nature were reported, but all appeared to be isolated incidents. Listed below are some of the community issues that the 2nd District Policing Team worked on this month: - Traffic monitored at the intersection of N. Lynn St. / Lee Hwy. where cars are coming up the ramp from I-66 westbound. - Extra patrols of all parks. - The area of the 2700 blocks of Wilson Blvd. and Franklin Rd. were monitored for the complaint of a presumably homeless person living out of a van. Please do not leave valuables in your vehicles. Call in suspicious persons / activity to the police. ROBBERY, 2200 block of N. 12th Court, On September 2 at 10:45 pm a man called police and stated that he had been exiting his vehicle when an unknown man pressed a hard metal object against his face. The suspect demanded money and fled. The suspect description is a 5’9” male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and dark pants. ATTEMPTED ROBBERY, 1700 block of N. Moore Street, On September 2 at 5 pm a woman attempted to steal prescription drugs by implying she had a weapon at a pharmacy. The clerk yelled for help and the suspect fled. The suspect is described as an African American female with medium length hair, 5’5” and 130 lbs. She was wearing a yellow long sleeve polo shirt with a logo on the front, jeans and dark shoes. MALICIOUS WOUNDING-ARREST, 1000 block of Arlington Boulevard, On September 7 at 2 am, three males assaulted another man, hitting him at least once with a beer bottle. Two of the suspects were located. Ankhbayar Purevsukh, 25, of Arlington, and Bavarbold Khishigdog, 24, of Arlington were both charged with Malicious Wounding. They were held without bond. ATTEMPTED ROBBERY, 1800 block of N. Ft. Myer Drive, On September 9 at 4:30 pm an unknown man walked behind the counter at a gas station. He pushed the clerk and unsuccessfully attempted to open the cash register. The suspect fled without any money. The suspect is described as an African American male in his mid 20’s, 5’6” to 6’ tall and 160 lbs. He was wearing a black and white plaid sweatshirt and dark pants. BANK FRAUD-ARREST, 3000 block of Washington Boulevard, On September 10 at 10 am officers were called to a bank for suspects attempting to cash fraudulent checks. The suspects were apprehended after a foot pursuit. Khalil J. Scott, 25, New York, NY, was charged with Identity Theft and felony counts of both Uttering and Forgery. Joseph Price, 31, New York, NY, was charged with Identity Theft, and a felony count of Uttering. They were held without bond. MALICIOUS WOUNDING-ARREST, 1600 block of N. 21st Street, On September 13 at 7 am a man broke into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment. He assaulted a man in the apartment and stole her dog. Officers apprehended the suspect. Nima Movafaghrad, 24, of College Park, MD, was charged with Malicious Wounding, Breaking and Entering with the Intent to Commit Assault, Missile into an Occupied Dwelling, Larceny of a Dog, Assault and Battery, and Tampering with an Automobile. He was held without bond. EXPOSURE, 2800 block of Washington Boulevard, On September 17 at 7:30 pm a woman was running when she saw an unknown man expose himself. She reported the incident when she returned home. The suspect is a young white Hispanic male, 5’6” and 160 lbs. He was wearing a white undershirt and had black hair. ASSAULT AND BATTERY-ARREST, 1100 block of N. Highland Street, On September 19 at 11:45 pm, a man assaulted a bouncer outside a bar. Derek James Bowler, 23, of Arlington, was charged with Assault and battery and Drunk in Public. He was held on an unsecured bond of $2,500. ROBBERY, 1300 block of Lee Highway, On September at 9 am an unknown man approached a woman in a park and pushed a hard object into her back. When he demanded money, she gave him her cell phone. The suspect was described as an African American male in his 30’s, 6’ and 180 lbs. He was wearing a dirty grey hooded sweatshirt, jeans and a black back pack. PETIT LARCENY-ARREST, 1800 block of N. Quinn Street, On September 27 at 6:20 am, police responded to a laundry room for a suspicious person. A subject was found sleeping in the laundry room where a washing machine had been damaged. Dennis Charles Miller, 45, of Landover, MD, was charged with Petit Larceny and Possession of Burglarious Tools. He was held on a $3,500 bond. COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 2700 block of Washington Boulevard, Between 8 pm on September 29, and 8 am on September 30, an unknown suspect entered a business by breaking a window and stole various items. There is no suspect description.
