Update on Materials Posted Online Regarding Arlington County and Vicinity Non-Motorized Boathouse Facility EIS

Thanks again to everyone who attended last night's open house at Washington-Lee High School. We appreciate the large turnout and the amount of written comments received. Your input last night, as well as through comments received throughout the scoping period are critical to the EIS planning process.

As mentioned last night, the 2002 Feasibility Study is now available for download on the project website ( http://parkplanning.nps.gov/arlingtonboathouse). Site specific designs from this study are not specifically being carried forward in the current EIS and much of the data is now out of date, however the document does give good background information on the project's history. It can be found in the document list on the project homepage or by using the direct link:
http://parkplanning.nps.gov/boathousestudy2002

In addition, the project boards from last night's open house are now posted with the scoping newsletter (including a corrected site map) at the direct link http://parkplanning.nps.gov/arlingtonboathousescoping

The public scoping period is open through August 31, 2012. During this period, the public is invited to identify how they might intend to use such a facility, concerns they may have with the preliminary alternatives, as well as offer suggestions. Written comments can be submitted electronically at http://parkplanning.nps.gov/do...cfm?documentID=48320 .
Other options to submit comments are detailed on the website.

For further information ... please contact: Thomas Sheffer at 703-289-2500 or tsheffer@nps.gov .
