TO: NORTH ROSSLYN CIVIC ASSOCIATION FROM: ANNE SPIESMAN, SECRETARY SUBJECT: MINUTES OF THE BOARD OR DIRECTORS DATE: JUNE 3, 2006 MEETING MINUTES The regularly scheduled meeting of the North Rosslyn Civic Association was held at Greenberry's on June 3, 2006. All directors were present with the exception of the two vacant positions. The board elected the following officers by consensus for 2006: Mark Antell, President, Anne Spiesman, Secretary, and Paul Derby, Treasurer/web master. It was noted the two vice-president positions remain unfilled. The board hopes to fill these positions during 2007 with directors elected during the November 2006 meeting. The board agreed to schedule and announce two general membership meetings each year and 6 board meetings each year. The board discussed various ways to increase membership and member participation and awareness. Bill Maron suggested we publish a newsletter and agreed to look into the details of producing a newsletter. The board discussed the possibility of holding a block party to build community within the association. Paul Derby suggested working with the Rosslyn BID to do a member drive using a resident's address list the BID uses for their magazine. The board briefly recapped various issues of concern to the community: -skywalk to the metro including handicap access, the future use of the Wilson School building and field, vehicle speed calming, probability and timing of Turnberry Towers construction, the tot lot behind the Key Blvd. Apartments, installation of steps to the community garden park area, Rosslyn Highlands Park lighting and other potential improvements, and prevention of Rosslyn Metro Station bike rack removal.
