North Rosslyn Civic Association
Board Meeting Minutes
January 9, 2018

The Board met at Holiday Inn in the bar and began at 8:00. Board members present were Sylvia Kendra, John Hummel, Terri Prell, Nicole Merlene, Judy Brand and (Non-Board member) Rick Froelich. Absent were Elena Chambers and Atima Omara. The Board addressed the following matters:
1.Possible change of helicopter/airplane traffic paths: consider teaming with other Civic Associations on route changes.
2.Membership Drive-how to a. sustain current membership , b. maintain payment of dues and c. approach new condos and apartments for members.
3. Community Support- a. continue Sponsorship Campaign, b. do newsletter (use Next Door Rosslyn, and ArlNow (with their permission)), c. use Mark Antell for Green Space
4. Involvement with BID- a. BID should be a sponsor, b. residents should be invited to major BID events and c. BID should recognize NRCA at events.
5. Finance- Attempt to reduce Web Site costs if possible
6. Board Involvement-attempt to a. attend all meetings, b. attend some Civic Federation Meetings and c. find volunteers for Newsletter, Monthly Communications and Membership
7. Election of Officers held- President- John Hummel, VP- Nicole Merlene, Treasurer- Rick Froelich, Secretary- Judy Brand
8. Future meeting dates were scheduled as follows: Community Meetings- March 1, June 7, September 6 and December 6 (all Thursdays)
Executive Board Meetings- March 8, June 14, September 13 and December 13- all to be held at the Holiday Inn. Nicole Merlene agreed to contact Holiday Inn to reserve meeting rooms.
10. Possible speaker suggested for next Community meeting on March 1 was Penzance.

The meeting adjourned at approximately 8:00 pm.
