Arlington County Police Department News Release: Media AlertDraft: November 3, 2014
On Thursday, November 6, 2014, from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and again from noon to 1:00 p.m., officers with the Arlington County Police Department's Special Operations Section will kick off its 2014 Pedestrian & Bicycle Safety Awareness Program with a pedestrian safety enforcement detail in the Rosslyn area. This campaign will run from November 6th thu November 24th. Officers will enforce traffic, bicycle and pedestrian laws at Wilson Blvd/North Lynn Street and Lee Hwy/Lynn Street. Members of the media are invited to attend to cover the detail.
The detail is part of the 2014 Street Smart Pedestrian, Driver, and Bicyclist Safety Awareness Program to promote pedestrian and bicycle safety across the region.
Officers will ticket motorists who violate traffic laws or do not yield for pedestrians in crosswalks. In addition, pedestrians will be cited for jaywalking. Public Service Aides will hand out safety information to drivers, pedestrians and bicyclists who commute through these busy interactions.
