Open Letter to the School Board
An Open Letter to the Arlington Public Schools (APS) School Board concerning long-term utilization of the Wilson School site.
10/29/06

Madame Chair, Board Members,

North Rosslyn Civic Association representatives have testified before the School Board on a couple of occasions, and have talked to several of you individually, concerning long term disposition of the Wilson School site. We appreciate your willingness to engage with us, both at general meetings and individually.

The long term disposition of the Wilson School site will be studied, along with several other sites that no longer are used for their initial purpose, by a "Multi-Site Study Committee." Initially, the committee charge was limited entirely to consideration of APS concerns. Our engagement has improved the committee's charge to include community impact as a study consideration. We expect to provide input to the Committee as soon as it begins its work, and we're pleased to see that a credible community representative, Stan Karson of RAFOM, has been appointed to the committee..

We note and thank the School Board for formally adding community impact to the Multi-Site Study Committee charge at their October 16 meeting by a vote of 4:1.
For: Foster (moved), Garvey (seconded), Fendley, Hynes; Against: Wilson.
