Wilson School use of playground in Rosslyn Highlands Park
Arlington Public Schools recently placed signs on the playground area of Rosslyn Highlands Park reserving use of the playground for the school from 8-5 during weekdays. We have contacted Arlington County Parks and asked that the signs be removed. It has been Arlington County Parks positon as well as the community's position that the park is available to all children at all times and the children using Wilson school are welcome to use the park along with the community children. Since the park is part of the community's scarce recreational space and not owned by Arlington Public Schools, the school should not be restricting access to the park for the exclusive use of the visitors using Wilson School during renovations of the school buildings in other parts of Arlington.

On April 25, 2006, Arlington Parks agreed to deal with this matter. We should see removal of the signs shortly.
