Memorial Day Traffic Reminder from Arlington Police
As we move into the Memorial Day weekend and the beginning of summer, now is a good time to be reminded about roadway safety. Many people will be travelling this weekend and throughout the summer. Please ensure that you are well rested for your travels and make sure you buckle your seat belts. Small children should be secured in a Child Safety seat. Obey the traffic laws and arrive at your destination safely.

There are a number of special events occurring this weekend and traffic will create delays. Be patient and arrive safely. The Rolling Thunder memorial ride is this Sunday. Many motorcyclists are arriving in the area and will be travelling in large groups. Please pay particular attention when changing lanes or merging into traffic as motorcycles are difficult to see. Some of the groups of motorcycles will be under police escort in an effort to reduce the potential for accident.

Most Importantly, let’s not forget the reason for this weekend holiday. We honor those men and women who serve in our military to give us the rights we sometimes take for granted. I would ask that you take a moment this weekend to reflect on what this weekend really means for you. Please remember all of the service members who have paid the ultimate sacrifice so we can live the way that we do.

Have a great weekend and please stay safe.
