ACTION ALERT- Saturday 2/21 - Save Rosslyn Parkland

Please join neighbors and concerned allies THIS Saturday morning at 8:15 a.m. in the County Board room at 2100 Clarendon in support of expanded and enhanced park space in Rosslyn.

At tonight's WRAPS meeting, county staff presented draft recommendations that obliterate Rosslyn Highlands Park and constrain all future opportunities for expanded or enhanced park land in the adjacent area. As it stands, the proposal essentially sells County-owned park space to a private entity in exchange for a developer-funded fire station.

All you need to do is be present in the board room no later than 8:15 a.m. and stand up when our representative makes oral comments opposing the current recommendations. You may also wear a green shirt to show our coordinated defense of green space.

The County Board will ultimately decide on the fate of our neighborhood park, so this is our best opportunity to take a clear and unified stance.

A few updates:

Only one person may speak on a given topic during the public comment period, so you do not need to develop your own oral comments - just stand up with us. If you really want to make your own comments, you'll have to submit a speaker slip that covers a different topic area - maybe couched as a comment on the Community Facilities planning effort or Arlington parks in general.

If you cannot make tomorrow's effort, you can still help by writing a letter to the County Board. I will follow up with talking points you may include. This is just as important as being there tomorrow.

Thanks,
Katie

THANK YOU to the many of you that got up early this morning to make a great show of support for Rosslyn parks at today's County Board meeting. Based on the reaction from the board, we'll need to keep the pressure on if we are to influence the final outcome. Please stay tuned for how you can help as we continue this effort.

I hope you enjoy a cozy day inside from the snow and again, thank you for your tremendous enthusiasm and dedication!

Best,
Katie

When: Saturday, April 18. Arrive no later than 8:15 a.m. (comments begin at 8:30 a.m.)
