Save Claude Moore Colonial Farm
All,
I've visited this nearby park with grandchildren. We enjoyed the re-enactment of a pre-independence working farm. Seems that someone in the National Park Service has decided to shut it down. Here's a statement from one of many 'Friends of Claude Moore Colonial Farm.'
Best,
Mark Antell

------------------
The National Park Service announced a few days ago that it plans to close Claude Moore Colonial Farm, a living history site in Fairfax that depicts the daily lives of tenant farmers in the late 18th century. The farm is privately funded and does not cost the National Park Services a dime to operate.

I started visiting the farm last summer, first for an 18th century sewing workshop and later to volunteer for one of their Market Fairs. It is one of the few colonial sites in the area that depicts the lives of the working class. It would be a shame to lose it.

If you have visited the farm, or if you care about preserving historical sites, please take action by visiting their website, http://1771.org/savethefarm/ The webpage is receiving a lot of traffic and may not load right away, so I am reposting part of the farm's announcement below:
