2014 Feel the Heritage Festival
The 2014 Feel the Heritage Festival will be held on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014 from noon-4p.m. at Carver Community Center. The free event celebrates Arlington's African-American history and culture and will feature live music from the nationally-renowned Howard Gospel Choir, dance from Step Afrika!, kids' face painting, balloon art and make and take crafts, Hall of History, delicious food from Bar-B-Que At Its Best, great vendors and lots more! Free event shuttles will operate between Drew Community Center and Pentagon City Metro. Event details are be posted on the Feel the Heritage webpage.

Summer Camp Registration in Progress
2014 Summer Camp catalog now available online and in community centers. Make the most of your child or teen's summer break with a variety of summer camps! Stay active and healthy with sports camps, explore the great outdoors with nature, adventure and history based camps, tap into their creative side with arts and crafts, curious kids will love our imagination and exploration camps as well. Don't miss specialty therapeutic recreation camps for all ages. And remember, we offer fee reductions for those who qualify.

Families Unplugged Programs
Register today for our February Families Unplugged Program: 'A Taste of Crossfit.' Join us on Saturday Feb. 22, for a family-oriented Crossfit class presented by a trainer from Athlete's Global Inc., It will be followed by a hands-on a cooking tutorial: No-Bake Energy Bites. Programs are Saturday afternoon at both Walter Reed and Arlington Mill Community Centers. 2409 Clarendon Boulevard Interim Open Space
Construction is underway to transform a vacant lot into a dynamic, inviting and sustainable open space for the community to enjoy! Lawn and gardens will surround an inner plaza where there will be colorful tables with umbrellas as well as uniquely designed seating for people to sit and enjoy the outdoors. For people who want to be more active, there will be a multi-use recreation area to use for a variety of outdoor games. The County entered into a temporary lease agreement with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in May 2013 for use of a vacant portion of their property. Stay tuned for an opening date!

Teens – Summer Camp Volunteer Program Now Taking Applications
This opportunity is perfect for teens who want to further develop their leadership and communication skills and gain experience assisting with planning and leading activities for young children. Volunteers assist the camp staff in fun and exciting activities with campers, including field trips, arts and crafts, swimming, sing-along's, games and more. Apply here.
