Second District (Rosslyn area) Crime and Activity Bulletin - February 2009

The following is a list of criminal activity occurring in 2D North for February, 2009.

Property crime continues to rise. We are taking additional steps to combat the issue.

Please do not leave valuables in your vehicles. Call in suspicious persons / activity to the police.


BURGLARY, 02/10/09, 2300 block of Washington Boulevard, On February 10 between 1:30 am and 7:30 am. An unknown suspect entered a house through and open window and stole a laptop. There is no suspect description.

BURGLARY, 02/10/09, 1600 block of N. Kent Street, On February 10 at 7 am, an unknown suspect entered a business and stole several laptop computers. The theft was captured by surveillance cameras. The suspect was a white male in his late 20’s, 6’1”, 180 lbs, with brown hair. He was wearing a black jacket and black pants.

BURGLARY, 02/11/09, 1200 block of N. Scott Street, Between 7:30 pm on February 10, and 7:30 am on February 11, an unknown subject forcibly entered a residence and stole a computer. There are no known suspects.

BURGLARY, 02/12/09, 2800 block of Washington Boulevard, On February 12 at 3 am, two unknown men broke into a business and stole a vehicle. There is no suspect description.

ROBBERY, 02/12/09, 2000 block of N. 21st Street, On February 12 at 9:30 pm, a woman was walking when a male approached her from behind and grabbed her purse off her shoulder. The suspect was a male in his early 20’s, 5’11”, 175 lbs. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and jeans.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 02/12/09, 2800 block of Wilson Boulevard, On February 12, between 2:30 am and 1 pm, an unknown subject entered a business and stole cash. There are no known suspects.

ATTEMPTED GRAND LARCENY AUTO, 02/12/09, 900 block of N. Barton Street, Between 11 pm on February 11, and 7 pm on February 12, an unknown subject broke into a vehicle and tampered with the steering column. There is not suspect description.

UNLAWFUL ENTRY-ARREST, 02/13/09, 1500 block of Fairfax Drive, On February 13 at midnight, police located a subject inside a condemned building. Carlos Romero Lopez, 34, of no fixed address, was charged with Unlawful Entry and held without bond.

INDECENT EXPOSURE, 02/14/09, 1100 block of Arlington Boulevard, On February 14 at 7:30 am, a woman witnessed a man exposing himself in the lobby of an apartment building. John Shapiro, 60, of Arlington was charged with Indecent Exposure and held on a $2,000 bond.

ASSAULT AND BATTERY, 02/15/09, 2900 block of Wilson Boulevard, On February 14 at 10:30 pm, a man was punched by an acquaintance.

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY, 02/15/09, 1000 block of N. Danville Street, On February 15 at 1:45 am, an unknown subject attempted to enter a house by breaking a window. The homeowners woke up and the subject fled. There is no suspect description.

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY, 02/22/09, 800 block of N. Danville Street, Between midnight on February 16, and noon on February 22, an unknown subject attempted to enter a residence by cutting into a screen. Entry was not gained, and there is no suspect description.

LATE COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 02/23/09, 1100 block of Wilson Boulevard, Between 5 pm on February 2, and 9 am on February 3, an unknown subject stole three laptop computers from an office. There is no suspect description.

POSSESSION OF COCAINE, 02/26/09, 2500 block of Washington Boulevard, On February 26 at 12:30 am, police conducted a traffic stop. During investigation narcotics were located. Teressa Pauli, 38, of Arlington, was charged with Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Morphine, Forgery of Public Documents, and No Operator’s License. She was held without bond.

BURGLARY, 02/27/09, 1300 block of N. Herndon Street, On February 27, between 9 am and 2 pm, an unknown subject entered a house and stole electronics. There are no known suspects.

ASSAULT AND BATTERY-ARREST, 02/28/09, I-66 West at Spout Run Parkway, On February 28 at 5 am a man assaulted a woman in a vehicle. When police arrived, they located narcotics in the suspect’s pocket. Shawn Winston, 24, of Woodbridge, was charged with Assault and Battery and Possession of Marijuana. He was held on a $3,000 bond.



LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES), 02/06/09, 1200 and 1300 blocks of N. Veitch Street and 1300 block of N. Meade Street, Between 8:30 pm on February 5, and 7 am on February 6, five vehicles in the same area were broken into. Items were stolen from each. The suspect is unknown.

LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES), 02/10/09, 2000 block of N. Kirkwood Road and 2200 block of Clarendon Boulevard, Between 5 pm on February 9, and 10 pm on February 10, three vehicles were broken into by an unknown suspect. Various items were stolen.

LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES), 02/11/09, 1400 blocks of N. Taft and N. Scott Streets, Between 8 pm on February 10, and 5:30 am on February 11, an unknown suspect broke into two vehicles in parking garages. There is no suspect description.

LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES), 02/11/09, 1200 and 1300 blocks of N. Veitch Street, Between 9 pm on February 9, and 4 pm on February 11, and unknowns subject broke into two vehicles and stole GPS units from each. There is no suspect description.

LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES), 02/22/09, 1200 and 1300 blocks of N. Veitch Street, Between midnight on February 19, and 2 am on February 23, an unknown subject broke into six vehicles and stole various items. There are no known suspects.

ATTEMPTED LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES), 02/24/09, 1800 block of Clarendon Boulevard, On February 24 between 6 pm and 11 pm, an unknown suspect broke into two vehicles and searched through them. There is no suspect description.

LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES), 02/25/09, 1200 block of N. Veitch Street, Between 10 pm on February 24, and 5:30 on February 25, an unknown subject broke into two vehicles and stole GPS units. There is no suspect description.

LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES), 02/27/09, 1200 block of N. Veitch Street, Between 7:30 pm on February 26, and 3 pm on February 28, two vehicles in a parking garage were broken into. GPS units were stolen from both vehicles. There is no suspect description.



STOLEN VEHICLES, There were 4 vehicles reported stolen this month.
