Dear Friends of Rosslyn Highlands Park,

Tomorrow, April 22, the Arlington County will hold its next WRAPS working group meeting at the Wilson School from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

The WRAPS Working Group will address County Staff follow-up from the March work session (this is the proposal Board chairman Mary H. Hynes (D), referenced on Sat. April 18th). The new, revised plan to be submitted to county staff has just been released in anticipation of tomorrow’s meeting, and can be viewed here:

FORHP is disappointed by the new staff plans. Here are our findings:

There are two new options. In both, the proposed dead space plaza has been dropped, but both options:
- Reduce current park space by more than one quarter (from 30,500 to 21,800 square feet)
- Provide little to no park visibility from Wilson Blvd.
- Entail significant retail, grocery and housing development along Wilson Blvd. on former county property, including former park space.

FORHP allies plan to attend the WRAPS meeting, object to the new proposed plan, and ask for:
1) Further community input;
2) Another hearing prior to the county board vote

If you are interested, please plan to attend tomorrow’s WRAP meeting.

Further updates will be sent following tomorrow’s meeting.
