April 28, 2021 BOARD MINUTES
NRCA Board Meeting
Wednesday, 28 April 2021
Zoom, 7:00pm
1. Discussion of NRCA Upcoming Meetings
a. NRCA would like to re-visit the social event plan from 2020, perhaps to be carried out in late summer 2021.
i. Proposed ideal: walking tour of Rosslyn where restaurants and sponsors can show people their space, provide coupons, and expose locals to local and family-run businesses in our community.
ii. NRCA will schedule a meeting with Rosslyn BID to discuss potential options.
iii. The observation tower will perhaps serve as a start/end space.
2. Restaurant and Business Changes in Rosslyn
a. Many spaces in Rosslyn are closed or are now leasing their spaces: Roti, Subway, Heavy Seas Ale house, Little Beat, Starbucks.
b. New Japanese restaurant coming to Turnberry Towers called
“Yuraku.” The owner of the restaurant purchased the space. The owner automatically gets a Board seat at Turnberry. The biggest challenge is going to be parking. Ideally it will be valet parking.
3. Holiday Inn Site
a. The utility work at the former Holiday Inn site has been extensive and disruptive. Dittmar is not responsible for the noise or work.
4. New Arlington Logo
a. The new Arlington logo has been quite controversial in the community. NRCA board members plan to support the decision of Arlington Country, as the new logo is intended to be inclusive and positive for the community.
5. Renaming of Key Elementary School
a. Renaming Key Elementary School was a difficult process but the ultimate decision was Innovation Elementary School.
6. Treasurer’s Report
a. No new members since our last meeting but NRCA has over $3,000 dollars in the bank currently, so is financially stable.
b. Proposal accepted to do away with a treasurer’s report in the community meeting to instead dedicate time to the other agenda items.
